    once your film is completely used does the camera automatically stop or do you go by the meter on the side stating end?

    Your camera will continue to run even after your film is all used up, but you will hear an audible difference when the film is no longer advancing. Also, as you said, the footage meter will confirm that you've shot 50 feet. On some cameras, like my "new" Beaulieu 4008XMII, there is an indicators in the viewfinder that shows when the film is moving or has stopped.

    When you remove your cartrdige from the camera, the word EXPOSED will be seen on the last bit of film in the little window. If it's not there, you've got a little more film to shoot, but probably not much. If you are uncertain that the film is advancing, you could put a mark on the film and then shoot some more. If the mark is still visible when you remove the cartridge after shooting some more, you've got a problem -- either a jammed cartrdidge or a malfunctioning camera. This has not happened to me yet.
